Rumour: 3DS redesign coming next year with second analog stick and more

Ahh rumours…got to love them. The latest one regarding the 3DS is rather interesting.  The site 01NEt has been a source for rumours for a while now, and it’s latest is rather intriguing. It claims that a new 3DS will launch next year, with new hooks to it…

01NET is at it again, this time with a rumour that the 3DS will see a redesign released next year, which will include a second analog stick, vastly improved viewing angle for the 3D, improved battery life and more. The rumour also suggests the console may be renamed, or at least have an ‘updated name’ – e.g. 3DSi. Finally, the site claims that an add-on will be launched for current 3DS systems which will attach on to the side of the console and give it a second analog stick.

Now, I am normally sceptical and quick-to-slam articles like these, however 01NET were one of the first – if not the first – websites to leak the Wii U and Playstation Vita. More than that, the information they posted about those systems turned out to be virtually spot on, leading them to be a rather reliable source of rumours in my book.

Now whilst this is entirely possible, it doesn’t fall in line with Nintendo’s previous statement that there would be no new 3DS model any time soon. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens, though, but I look forward to the future of the 3DS and what Nintendo actually has in the works.
